Year after year, France continues to be the number one tourist destination in the world. 77 million tourists per year can't be wrong and not all of them are going just for the Eiffel Tower. So what exactly is pulling in all these tourists? Of course it would be near impossible to list everything France has to offer so let's just take a quick tour starting in where else:
PARIS
Spend the day exploring Paris' incredible and famous churches and museums. Stopping in at the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo are just a sampling of the many historical and famous works of art. To see impressive pieces by Van Gogh, Monet, and Matisse, a visit to the Orsay Museum is in order. Breaking out the camera for some stunning architecture and to visit some of Paris' historical past, no visit is complete without a stop to the famed Notre Dame Cathedral. To satisfy your quest, stops at Saint-Chapelle, Saint-Denis Basilica, and Sacre Coeur Basilica are a must. Make sure to rest your feet at one of the many sidewalk cafes with an espresso and world-famous French pastry for that true Parisian moment. After a busy day, relax on a river cruise down the Seine or take in the Paris classic Moulin Rouge. If you aren't ready to call it a day, dance the night away in one of Paris' energetic nightclubs or bars then retire to your hotel. With over 500 Hotels in Paris from the budget minded to the super luxury hotels, there is a hotel perfect for your needs. The next day starts by exploring some of the most famous and popular Landmarks in Paris. The Champs-Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde before setting off to the most visited attraction in Paris. No, not the Eiffel Tower, Euro Disney attracts more tourists in Paris than any other attraction in the city. After spending the day with Mickey, now we head to the most FAMOUS attraction....The Eiffel Tower and this is when you want to be there, just as the sun is going down. The view at dusk turning to night will show you why this is called "The City of Lights"
THE FRENCH RIVIERA
In the south of France lies the French Rivera. Home to Nice, Cannes, and Monte Carlo; it conjures up images of the rich and famous, incredible architecture, beaches and beautiful landscape. With nearly 300 days of sunshine a year, Nice is a haven for sun worshippers. If you need time away from the palmed beaches, the numerous historical monuments will take you back to ancient times of French History. Associated with film festival of the same name, Cannes is visual delight. Stunning architecture, scenery and views make this a photographers dream. Taking a tour of the area is your best bet however, as it can be quite expensive otherwise. Also in the French Riviera (although not a part of France), Monte Carlo is the epitome of luxury, wealth, and affluence. While visiting amongst the elite, take in the Monaco Palace, the world-famous Grand Casino (as popularized by James Bond), or grab a taxi and do the famous Grand Prix Circuit. Being compact, you can fit Monte Carlo in a day, and besides, one day is probably enough your wallet can handle; it's very expensive but worth a visit.
France has so much more to offer than just detailed here including the incredible cuisine, wines, countryside and medieval castles just to name a few. Opportunities abound when taking a vacation to France. You can spend a week in the Capital, or head out for a couple of weeks and explore the countryside taking in all the culture and the beauty of your surroundings. One thing's for sure, once you discover France, it'll leave you wanting to return again and again.
